Posted - 10 Feb 2008 : 22:03:45 Hey everybody! It was great to see you all again this year. I had a really good show in terms of the bottles that I managed to add to my collection. I found a few very rare bottles. I would never have dreamed (beforehand) that I would take home loot that good.
As usual, many of you agreed to let me take your photograph. Thanks again. I had fun talking with all of you. I will post some pictures but I am too tired to do it tonight. Stay tuned. Once again, I love all you bottle collector nuts! |

Posted - 18 Apr 2008 : 23:00:44 Okay. it's been a little while but I wanted to show more detail on that Pabst picture that Bob brought to the show. Bob told me that it was an advertisement given by Pabst to taverns that were willing to sell Pabst exclusively. This example came from a small town. Here is the picture Bob had.

In the lower left hand corner of the drawing was some amazing stuff. Pabst had purchased the Falk, Jung, and Borchert company in 1892. After doing so, Falk and Borchert took up positions within the Pabst company and are listed as officers. Jung had opened a malting company for a few years. Eventually, he purchased the old Obermann plant (1896) and then competed directly with Pabst.

In the lower right hand corner, the drawing boasts of the company's size. At this time, Pabst was the largest lager brewery in the world (per Kroll).

Posted - 11 Feb 2008 : 10:52:13 Hey Jimmy, Don't worry about a thing, man. That's why we get together in the morning. Once the show starts, it's off to find great stuff. And you, my friend, found at least one great bottle! I did not purchase that Weissenberger bottle. Maybe I should have but I really didn't like the repair. It's a bottle that I would have tried to replace the first chance I could - so, why not wait until I find one that I like? |
