Altpeter, Ph. Milwaukee

Inscription reads, “ALTPETER, PH. MILWAUKEE.” It’s an amber-color blob top beer bottle. Northwestern Brewery, which was owned by Phillip Altpeter owned the Northwestern Brewery and trained many young brewers. His daughter married E.L. Husting in 1872, another Milwaukee pioneer who opened his own Weiss beer brewery.

Oscar Altpeter’s brewery was only open for two years – 1896 and 1897. Which certainly makes this a rare bottle! Inscription reads “PH ALTPETER MILWAUKEE WIS.” Previously, the brewery had marketed its beer in stoneware bottles.
