Eagle Brewery (picnic), Fountain City, Wisconsin

This bottle turned up a fun story! The original beer was brewed in Fountain City from 1862 to 1965 when it closed. In Fountain City is the Monarch Tavern which has never closed its doors since 1894. It’s Wisconsin’s longest running tavern. New owner John Harrington teamed with brew master Wilbert "schmitty" Schmitt to start brewing Fountain City Beer in 1997. There are five brews now: Original Recipe, Prairie Moon Red, Eagle Valley Harvest Gold, Irish Valley Spring Bock, and John Robert Porter. The only place you can get it is The Monarch Tavern! Inscription reads: “EAGLE BREWERY FOUNTAIN CITY WIS.”
