Max Kempf, Antigo, Wisconsin

This brown bottle is from Max Kempf, Antigo, Wisconsin. It’s blob top was a very popular, often-used style for ginger beer in Wisconsin. The original recipe required only ginger, sugar, water, lemon juice and a fungal-bacterial known as a ginger beer plant. In a few days, fermentation turned the mixture into ginger beer.
