Burlington WI Brown Bottle

This brown blob-top bottle is labelled “WM J FINKE BREWING CO BURLINGTON WIS.” William J. Finke Brewery in Burlington launched in 1873 and closed in 1884. It lasted only 11 years. Burlington, WI, had only 4 breweries and it was a growing town. Still the brewery couldn’t make it. Finke invited John Uhen as a partner May 1, 1884. The brewery became "Finke-Uhen Brewing Co." The brewery was forced to close in 1922 for violating Prohibition laws. Finke died in 1934.
