H Nehring and Sons Fond Du Lac WI

This blob top bottle is inscribed “H. NEHRING & SONS FOND DU LAC WIS.” It’s a mug-based Weiss beer bottle which is very rare. The bottling works began in the 1890s as a brewery under the name Henry Nehring. He, brewing Weiss (white) beer in amber bottles. With prohibition they began producing soda and bootlegged the beer on the side. “Old Henry” produced root beer and sassafrass. Henry, Ted and Art were the “sons” in H. Nehring & Sons. When the company closed in 1960, Ted and Art went into the milk business. The old brewery building is still standing.
