The Great Depression hit everyone hard, but it was especially ruinous on the brewing industry in Sheboygan. The original Schreier Brewery was established in 1854 by Leonard Schlicht & Konrad Schreier. In 1872, Konrad Schreier launched the Konrad Schreier Co. which lasted until 1933 when brewing operations shut down. They produced “near beer,” then restarted beer production in 1933. But the company lasted only a year.
