Munzinger & Koethe

Embossed "MUNZINGER & KOETHE MILWAUKEE" and "C. C. G. Co. No 1" on the bottom. Amber pint with an applied lip. Munzinger's beer products came in amber bottles just like this one, with center embossing. Munzinger and Koethe was the fore runner of Munzinger Brewery, lasting a year from 1891 until 1892. Christian Munzinger then started a separate company under his own name which last for three more years.

Weiss beer, from the German word weissbier, was an effervescent, light colored beer usually made from wheat. The second stage of fermentation was allowed to take place after bottling, so strong bottles and tops were necessary. Weiss, or white beer, was so highly charged with carbonation that it acted very similar to champagne when the bottle was opened.
