The, "Of Interest" section of this website is really a misnomer. We won't ever put anything up anywhere on this site that we don't believe is of interest for at least a few Wisconsin antique bottle collectors. The Website has been broken down into sub sections simply to provide an organizational structure.
The "Hall of Fame" page will allow Wisconsin collectors to see the best bottles up close. One of a kind and unbelievable examples of great Wisconsin bottles are featured here. If you've managed to acquire your "Holy Grail" bottle, please send a photo and details on how you found it with any details you know on the history of the bottle. |
The "Hunt" page is dedicated to stories written by Wisconsin bottle collectors of an adventure or "Hunt" for bottles. Clearly the only way this page can grow is if Wisconsin collectors send in their stories. Please take the time to write the story of your greatest find. If at all possible please include a picture that goes with the story. These "Hunt" stories make for some very entertaining reading for all bottle collectors. |
The "Articles" page is dedicated to publishing and re-publishing articles about bottle hunting, Wisconsin bottles and helpful information. Put simply, "Articles of Interest" to Wisconsin collectors. |
The "Events" page is intended to help Wisconsin bottle collectors keep track of bottle shows flea markets or any other event where "The good stuff" might turn up. |
ABOUT MR BOTTLES
I’m sure you, as a Wisconsin bottle collector, have had to wonder for at least a moment, why is a site for Wisconsin bottle collectors called Mr.Bottles? Well, it stems from my and my small group of friends beginnings as bottle collectors. Early on the only way we collected bottles was by finding them scuba diving or trading within our group for bottles our buddies had found. Only half the fun of a dive trip was finding your own bottles. The other half was showing your finds off at the boat and seeing everyone else’s finds. I can’t tell you how eagerly I’ve awaited my buddies return to the boat to see what they found when I was the first one in. As any group of compatriots does we would make fun and tease each other. One day after finding the best bottle of the dive I taunted my partners by declaring, “WHO’S Mr.Bottles?! THAT’S RIGHT…IT’S ME… IT’S ME.”
The taunt was returned doubly on no less than the next tank of air when I was outdone for the dive and the day.
Over the first couple of years I had some pretty decent luck and made the exclamation a little more than my partners. Then I found out about EBAY. A cobalt double error blob soda was for sale. I had to pick out a user name to register and after a little consideration decided I would be Mr.Bottles. A few years later when I decided to do this website for Wisconsin bottle collectors I figured Mr.Bottles is better than Wisconsin bottles dot com. So that’s it.
The premise for this is, “A site for Wisconsin bottle collectors by Wisconsin bottle collectors.” If you find a great bottle out on a dive or dig or antiquing, you’re Mr. or Mrs.Bottles for the day! If you collect Wisconsin bottles this site is partially yours. Please, treat it as your own and help improve it. (SEND CONTENT!)
Very best regards, Steven |
